Space Heaters for Bathrooms

Bathrooms can be especially chilly when it's cold outside however most space heaters are unsafe to use in damp or wet areas like your bathroom or a laundry room, leaving homeowners with the choice of dealing with the chilly air or having a heater or heater/fan installed in a wall or ceiling..

Appliances used in a bathroom should have either an ALCI or GFI or GFCI plug. An ALCI (Appliance Leakage Current Interrupter) plug is a ground fault current interrupter designed to prevent electrical shock. If it senses a short circuit, it it immediately cuts off power to the heater. A GFI (aka GFCI) plug stands for ground fault circuit interrupter - it cuts off power if it detects current flowing someplace where it is not supposed to go, such as through water.

Another safety feature you might find is IDCI - immersion detection current interruption - which cuts off power if the device is immersed in water.
